Who we are

GetSolar Pty Ltd ("Get Solar", "we") sells solar panels, home batteries and related products to households in Melbourne and surrounds. Installation is carried out by accredited installer partners. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988.

What we collect

Your name, phone number and email address.
Details about your home and energy use that you give us for a quote, such as suburb or postcode, whether you own the home, roof and storeys, existing solar, and your power bills.
If you go ahead: your address, electricity account and meter details, and information needed to apply for rebates on your behalf, such as eligibility details for Solar Victoria programs.
Records of our calls, emails and messages with you.

You can contact us without giving your name, but we need contact details to prepare a quote.

How we collect it

Directly from you: through our quote and contact forms, by phone, email, WhatsApp or in person. We count page visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies or collect personal information. Our website does not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Why we use it

to prepare and explain your quote and answer your questions
to supply your system, arrange installation and apply for rebates you are eligible for
to provide support and meet warranty, consumer law and record-keeping obligations

We only send you marketing if you agree to it, and every marketing message lets you opt out.

Who we share it with

Our accredited installer partners, so they can assess your site and install your system.
Government programs such as Solar Victoria and the Clean Energy Regulator, when we apply for rebates or certificates for you.
Finance providers, only if you ask us to refer you to one.
Service providers that host our website, database, email and business software, such as Google (email) and our web hosting provider. Some of these may store information on servers outside Australia, including in the United States.

We do not sell or rent your personal information.

How we protect it and how long we keep it

We keep your information on password-protected systems with access limited to people who need it. We keep enquiry details only as long as we need them to respond to you and follow up your enquiry, and customer records for as long as needed for warranty, tax and legal obligations. After that we delete or de-identify them.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask to see or correct the information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by contacting us below. If you have a privacy concern, contact us first and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
