When you use power
Solar covers daytime use. Pool pumps, hot water, dishwashers and EV charging can be moved into the day to use more of it, especially with the new Midday Power Saver plans.
How much you use
Your last few bills tell us your daily usage. A bigger system than you can use mostly exports power for a few cents.
Your roof
Space, direction, shading and pitch set what fits. North is best in Melbourne, and east and west roofs work well too.

What size solar system do I need?
It depends on how much power you use, when you use it and how much roof you have. Many Melbourne homes end up between 6.6 kW and 10 kW. We work it out from your bills rather than selling a standard package.
Which way should my panels face?
North gives the most energy over a day in Melbourne. East and west roofs still work well and can suit households that use more power in the morning or late afternoon. We design around the roof you have.
Should I get a battery at the same time?
Not always. If most of your use is in the evening, a battery often makes sense now while the federal discount is at its current rate. If not, we can fit a battery-ready hybrid inverter so adding one later is simple.
How long do panels and inverters last?
Quality panels typically carry a 25-year performance warranty and an inverter usually 5 to 10 years. We explain the manufacturer warranties for the exact products in your quote.
