Federal battery discount (Cheaper Home Batteries Program)
About 30% off an eligible home battery. Not means-tested.
The discount comes as certificates the installer claims on your behalf, so it comes off the price you pay. The number of certificates depends on the battery's usable capacity and when it is installed.

- Full support for the first 14 kWh of usable capacity, 60% from 14 to 28 kWh and 15% from 28 to 50 kWh.
- The rate steps down every six months, next on 1 January 2027.

Solar Victoria solar panel rebate and loan
Up to $1,400 off, plus an optional interest-free loan of up to $1,400 over 4 years.
You are usually eligible if:
- you own and live in the home (or own a home under construction)
- the combined household taxable income of all owners is under $150,000 a year
- the property is worth less than $3 million
- the address has not had a Solar Homes panel or battery rebate before, and no solar was installed in the last 10 years
- the system is sold by an authorised solar retailer using eligible products
Solar Victoria is no longer taking applications for interest-free battery loans, and there is no separate Victorian battery rebate at the moment.
Panel certificates (STCs)
Under the federal Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme, a new solar panel system earns certificates that reduce its upfront price. You do not apply for these: the retailer or installer claims them and the discount is built into your quote. The value falls a little each year until the scheme ends in 2030.
Hot water rebates
Solar Victoria offers up to $1,000 off an eligible heat pump or solar hot water system, or up to $1,400 for a locally made product. Ask us if you are replacing an electric or gas hot water system.
Midday Power Saver
Free power from 11am to 2pm every day, from 1 October 2026.
Victorian households with a smart meter can opt in to a retailer plan that includes three free hours a day, up to 24 kWh. Prices at other times may be higher, so compare plans before switching.
If you have solar, you already generate most of your power at midday, so the bigger win is often charging a battery or running the dishwasher, pool pump, hot water or EV in that window on cloudy days.
